CDCP Update:
Boler Dental will be accepting the CDCP as outlined at
https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/dental/dental-care-plan.html
using Balanced Billing. Balanced billing means that the patient will be responsible for the balance of their bill that the CDCP is not covering.
There is some important information that you will need to know. Each patient qualifies for up to $650 per year. Not all procedures are covered equally and some procedures are not covered at all unfortunately. The CDCP only pays up to 100% of a special reduced government fee that is below the cost of the procedure and well below the Ontario Dental Fee Guidelines. Dentists will be charging patients the difference between the government fee and the Ontario Dental Fee Guidelines. This is called Balance Billing.
For example, a procedure may have an Ontario Dental Fee of $100. The government fee may be well below cost at $60. So if you are eligible for 100% of the government fee, then the government will pay $60 towards the $100 fee. You would then have to pay the difference of $40. The government fee does not cover the full cost of any existing procedures as per the Ontario Dental Fee Guidelines. The patient is responsible to pay for the difference and for any procedures that are not covered under the government plan.
